The Weekly Reflection Edition 2

Welcome to the Daily Check-In

There is no right way to do this, for me, I am committing to set a timer for 20 minutes each day. During that time, I will pull a card, use an image from my daily walk, or share about something that happened the day before - life lessons, silly thoughts, and everything in between.

You are invited to use my reflection prompts as your own, or to curate your own daily check-in practice.

The Prompt of the Week

Today’s prompt comes from the African Goddess Rising Oracle by Abiola Abrams & illustrated by Destiny Powell

This morning I sat with the deck and asked to questions,

1- What are the blessings in this season?

2- What are the lessons in this season?

1- Blessings: Mame Coumbe Bang- Speak Up When I looked at this card, all I saw as the fists in the forest. The silent but overwhelming support she has behind her. So today, I asked myself “What support isn’t as visible or as obvious? Who or what is silently holding me up in my power. Who are my hype people that give me permission to speak boldly and live authentically? How can I them those people? How can I honor them? Or how can I even just do the thing that they are cheering me on to do. The thing that they have gifted me safety, energy, or resources to bring to fulfillment?

2- Lessons: Queen Nandi- Intuition Unlike the first card, where Mame is standing, Queen Nandi is seated. She is being held. She is alert yet relaxed. She is being supported by her majestic throne, but she is also supporting the baby in her lap. She is in a beautiful harmony with the divine feminine and the divine masculine. In what ways are you allowing or creating safety, structure, and support into your intuition practice. Often when people think of intuition, they only think of the feminine flow of it, the downloads coming down from the heavens as a woman float around her home or a meadow in a flowy dress. But what if some divine masculine is needed for your intuition to feel safe to be unleashed, uncensored, unlocked, or untamed. In what ways does your intuitive practice already embody this harmony? In what small ways could you shift in whichever direction to find the balance?

The Reflection of the Week

Whew, support seems to be the main through line today. Support from people in my life. Support that I have set up for myself to be internally resourced. I have so much support. And when I look at that first card, I think of my cousins, aunts/uncles, and family friends. You know those people in your life that are a bit older but they just cheer on everything you do. I don’t think I ever really truly understood the love and magic and energy that comes from these epic humans, but now that I am one of those humans for my own younger cousins, my 14-year-old niece/cousin, and my own friend’s kids.

When I looked at the second card, it is funny to realize how embodied my intuitive practices have become, and the more embodied the more informal they look, when I make my coffee, I am setting intentions while I stir, when I wash the dishes, I am releasing subconscious blocks, when I am connecting with friends, I am cultivating gratitude and joy. I remember dreaming about the magic in the mundane when I was living in my small apartment in E. Harlem back in 2013, and here I am 13 years later living that life I dreamed of. The many years in between, there was a lot of effort to find this flow, there was a lot of scaffolded structure for many years that I needed to lean on in order to get here to these moments of trust and faith and releasing needing for my life to look like a spiritual practice, but in that I feel the most connected to the divine than I have ever before.
